Over the past 30 years, Wild River has established a reputation as a leading grower of diverse naturally hybridized stone fruit varieties, from our full-season pluot program comprised of more than 20 varieties as well as nectaplums, peacotums and pub plums. From longtime heirloom favorites to the latest releases from the Zaiger Genetics, all of Wild River's stonefruit varieties were naturally bred without the use of GMOs.

Flyod Zaiger - The Father of the Pluot

Chris "Floyd" Zaiger was a fruit breeder best known for developing hybrid stone fruit varieties, including the pluot. He founded Zaiger Genetics, now an international fruit-breeding business selling cultivars and hybrids across the world. Zaiger Genetics is based in Modesto, CA, south along Hwy 99 from Wild River.
