Quality & Food Safety
Wild River’s commitment to quality and food safety is unsurpassed. Our organic crops have been certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) in accordance with the USDA National Organic Program for two decades. We contract with NSF International, the leading U.S. Food Safety & Quality certification body, for regular third-party inspections and audits.
We are committed to following the USDA’s Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Handling Practices (GHP) to ensure that our fruit is produced, packed, handled and stored in the safest manner possible to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards. Our employees are extensively trained on food safety and sanitation measures in accordance with the standards of NSF International.
The Environmental Protection Agency reports that some synthetic chemical inputs used in conventional farming are carcinogenic – or known to cause cancer. Pesticides have been found to have high toxicity to birds, mammals and fish. These toxins build up as they travel through the food chain: primary consumers ingest the chemicals directly from the plant, while secondary and tertiary consumers ingest the pesticide residues through consumption of the primary consumers. Research also shows associations between agricultural pesticide use and impaired cognitive development or autism in children.
